Zuboff’s 3 Laws (mid-1990)

Formulated in the mid-1990s and grounded in 20 years of clinical observations of “workplace computerization,” the 3 laws summarized and predicted behavior in the economic domain.

Zuboff’s 3 Laws: Assuming the dominant economic paradigm

1. everything that can be automated will be automated
2. everything that can be informated will be informated
3. all digitally produced data that can be used for surveillance and control will be used for surveillance and control in the absence of countervailing rights, laws, contracts, rules, or sanctions.
